A Journey of Service, Gratitude, and The American Ideal with Rear Admiral (Ret.) Huan Nguyen, USN

Inspiring talk by Rear Admiral Huan Nguyen on service & the American ideal at Ford Museum.

Rear Admiral (Ret.) Huan Nguyen brings an inspiring personal story to the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum. Drawing on his family's escape from Vietnam, President Ford's decisive response to the 1975 refugee crisis, and his own 30 years serving in the U.S. Navy, the Rear Admiral reflects on themes of belonging, service, and the American experience. He shares how everyday Americans—including a generous couple from Oklahoma—showed his family compassion during a pivotal moment, helping them find stability in their new home. This talk offers a meaningful perspective on gratitude, courage, and what it means to build a life in America. It's a wonderful opportunity for teens and adults interested in American history, military service, or stories of resilience and community support. A coffee reception follows the presentation, giving families a chance to connect afterward. This event takes place at the Presidential Museum in Grand Rapids.
