ArtPrize 2026
Annual public art competition & exhibition throughout downtown Grand Rapids.
ArtPrize is a massive international art competition and cultural festival that transforms downtown Grand Rapids into an open-air gallery. This 18-day event draws over 800,000 visitors who explore hundreds of artworks—paintings, sculptures, installations, and more—displayed across streets, parks, galleries, restaurants, and businesses throughout the city. The best part? Admission is completely free. You can wander at your own pace, vote for your favorite pieces using your smartphone, and help decide who wins the $100,000 public grand prize. Artists compete not just for public votes but also in a separate juried competition, making it fun to see where everyday art lovers and experts agree or disagree.
The festival spans five districts across downtown, each with its own character to explore. Printed maps and guides are available throughout the city, and you can hop on the free DASH bus if your feet need a break. Whether you're serious about art or just looking for a unique way to spend a day with the family, ArtPrize offers something for everyone. The downtown area also has hundreds of restaurants, shops, and attractions within walking distance, so you can easily build a full day (or multiple days) around the festival.
