Chalk the Walk

Bring the kids to Windmill Island Gardens for a day of creative outdoor fun. Everyone—from toddlers to adults—is invited to decorate the park's walkways with chalk art. You'll also get to watch live artwork in action as professional artist Hallie LeBlanc from Abundance Mobile Art Studio creates vibrant installations throughout the gardens. The chalk creations will stay on display until weather wears them away, giving you something special to enjoy during your visit. If you didn't bring chalk from home, don't worry. Chalk is available for purchase at Visitor Services while supplies last. This activity is included with your admission to the gardens, so there's no extra fee to participate. Holland residents enjoy free entry with proof of residency, while other visitors pay regular admission rates. It's a wonderful way to spend a summer day outdoors while letting your family's creativity shine.
