Chili Cookoff at The Ballpark

Since the ballpark itself is currently under construction, this year's cookoff moves to the streets of Ottawa Avenue NW, hosted at Chicago Beef Joint and The Garage Bar. The celebration runs from 11am to 5pm with gates opening right at the start. Arrive early to grab food and drinks while enjoying the aroma of chili being prepared on grills and smokers throughout the event. The main tasting happens at 2:30pm, though getting there early is smart since popular dishes can sell out quickly. Kids can enjoy face painting from 1 to 5pm, and there's a cornbread eating contest at 2:15pm with a cash prize up for grabs. Live music and football games keep the fun going all afternoon.
