Cut Flowers Gardening 101 and Farm Flower Bouquets

Ready to grow your own cutting garden or start a flower stand? This hands-on class walks you through the essentials with Blandford Nature Center's flower expert. You'll learn which varieties thrive in our climate, which types produce abundantly, and how to pick flowers that match your style and color preferences. Then you'll put that knowledge to work: head into Blandford Farm's own flower fields to harvest blooms, and create a beautiful bouquet to bring home. All harvesting tools and a mason jar are provided. Registration is required ahead of time, with online sign-ups closing at noon on the event day. Cost is $45 for non-members and $36 for members. The program is for ages 13 and up; teens must be accompanied by a registered adult. Since this takes place entirely outdoors in the farm fields, wear closed-toe shoes and clothing you don't mind getting dirty and wet. Parking is available at the farm, or you can park at the main Nature Center and walk 10 minutes. Port-a-potties and a hand washing station are on-site. If severe weather hits, the program will be cancelled and you'll receive refund options.
