Fallasburg Park: Build a boat, will it float?
Build and test a floating boat at Fallasburg Park.
Your child will discover the science behind buoyancy by building and testing their own mini boat. Led by Blandford Nature Center, this hands-on program lets kids construct a boat using provided materials, then race their creations to see how fast and far they'll travel. It's a great way for young learners to ask questions and find real answers through doing rather than just listening.
This program works best for children ages 5–12, though younger and older kids are welcome with registration. One adult must stay with each child throughout the activity. Admission is $5 for adults and $8 for children 2 and up (younger toddlers are free). Pre-registration is recommended since space fills up, though walk-ins are accepted if spots remain. The program takes place partly outdoors, so dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes for park paths. Note that this is not a drop-off program, and activities happen rain or shine—plan to arrive a few minutes early so your group doesn't miss the start.
