Forensic Files: Cracking the Case | Grades 7-9

Forensic investigation workshop for Grades 7โ€“9 at Van Andel Institute.

This four-day camp invites students entering grades 7โ€“9 to explore the world of forensic science through hands-on investigation. Participants will learn real techniques used by crime scene analysts, including fingerprinting, DNA analysis, and powder identification. Throughout the week, campers will work through simulated crime scenarios to practice what they've learned, gaining insight into how forensic scientists piece together evidence and solve cases. A highlight of the program is meeting with an actual forensic scientist who shares firsthand knowledge about the profession and how crime scenes are analyzed. On the final day, students bring everything together to solve a staged crime and identify the perpetrator. The Van Andel Institute for Education runs this camp with the goal of fostering curiosity and critical thinking. If you need to cancel, full refunds are available up to a week before the start date, with partial refunds offered for cancellations made closer to the camp dates.
