GRFS Presents: Metropolis at Wealthy Theatre

The Grand Rapids Film Society is screening the classic 1927 science fiction film "Metropolis," directed by Fritz Lang, with a unique twist: a live heavy metal score performed by The Silent Light. The film imagines a distant future city sharply divided between working-class citizens and the elite city planners. When the son of the city's leader falls in love with a working-class woman who prophesies the arrival of a peacemaker, their relationship becomes central to the story's exploration of class conflict and social change. The screening runs about 2.5 hours. What makes this showing special is The Silent Light's original metal soundtrack, performed live during the film. Founded in 2015, the group specializes in rescoring silent classics with heavy metal compositions that blend black metal, doom metal, and orchestral influences. Doors open at 6:30 PM with the film starting at 7:30 PM.
