Guided Shinrin-Yuko: Rest & Reconnect in the Highlands in Grand Rapids
Join a certified forest therapy guide for an afternoon of Shinrin-yoku—the Japanese practice of forest bathing—at Blandford Nature Center. This program begins with an introduction to the science behind this calming practice and how it differs from a typical hike. You'll then spend time moving slowly through the woods and meadows while being guided toward relaxation and mindfulness. The experience wraps up with a special tea service made from wild foraged plants, along with a snack and time to connect with other participants.
The program is designed for adults 18 and older and includes a sit pad, blanket, essential oils, bug spray options, and the foraged tea and snack. Parking and restrooms are available on-site. Sessions take place entirely outdoors, so the program will be cancelled in severe weather with refund or makeup date options. Registration is required and closes at noon the day before the event; spots are limited. Pricing is $30 for non-members or $24 with a membership discount. The program runs through 8 p.m., and cancellation requests made at least a week in advance are eligible for a 50% refund.
