Holland Turkey Trot
Thanksgiving morning 5K race through downtown Holland—a festive family tradition.
The Holland Turkey Trot 5K brings the community together on Thanksgiving morning for a festive 5K run or walk through downtown. Last year's inaugural event drew over 1,200 participants, and organizers expect another strong turnout in 2026. The scenic route takes you through charming downtown streets, past local shops, and includes a unique run right past the historic De Zwaan Windmill at Windmill Island Gardens before finishing back where you started on 8th Street.
Registration is $45 if you sign up by October 31st, or $50 starting November 1st. Your registration includes a custom race t-shirt, finisher medal, professional timing with a bib, and entry into age-group awards announced at a downtown ceremony after the race. The event features live announcing and a family-friendly atmosphere with plenty of photo opportunities. A portion of proceeds supports the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Holland. Keep in mind that Thanksgiving falls in November in Michigan, so weather conditions may include snow, particularly on the unpaved Windmill Island path—but the race runs rain or shine.
