Introduction to Worms & Composting for Kids

Learn about worms and composting in this hands-on kids workshop.

Your child will explore the basics of composting with guidance from Wormies Compost during this hands-on hour at the library. Participants ages 6 to 11 will discover why composting benefits our environment, learn which materials work best, and find out how to maintain a system so it produces rich fertilizer for plants. The instructor will walk through two different setups: a traditional backyard compost pile and a worm bin, so families can choose the approach that fits their space and lifestyle. The first five kids to arrive will each take home a half-gallon bag of finished vermicompost to use in their own gardens. Since spots fill up quickly on a first-come basis, arriving early is a good idea if your family is interested. This session gives young learners practical knowledge they can use to start a composting project at home right away.
