Irish Jig 5K

Family-friendly 5K race weekend with Irish-themed fun in Grand Rapids.

The Irish Jig 5K is a multi-event race weekend that's been a Grand Rapids tradition for over 40 years. Held in mid-March, the event combines in-person and virtual racing options to support cancer research and pediatric care through local healthcare partners. Families can choose from a standard 5K run or walk, a Kids Gold Ribbon Run on the East Grand Rapids track, or participate remotely from home. The Kids Gold Ribbon Run is designed specifically for young runners and includes age-based waves to keep things organized. All participants in the youth event receive a commemorative shirt (optional purchase), and the race directly supports pediatric cancer programs. If you prefer to join virtually, you can complete your distance anywhere and receive a commemorative shirt mailed to you. The 5K welcomes walkers—just plan to start after the runners begin and finish within 75 minutes. Registration opens in September 2026, with varying fees and deadlines depending on which event you choose. Check the organizer's website for current registration details and fees.
