Long Lake Park: Beginner Birding
Learn to identify local birds on a guided nature walk.
Ready to discover the birds in your own backyard? Blandford Nature Center educators will guide your family on a birding walk through Long Lake Park, perfect for anyone new to the hobby. You'll start with the basics of bird identification and learn about helpful resources like field guides and mobile apps to support your birding adventures. Feel free to bring your own binoculars, or use one of theirs—either way, you'll be equipped to spot local species together.
This program welcomes curious learners of all skill levels, though it's primarily designed with adults and children ages 12+ in mind. Younger children can join with a registered adult who stays with them throughout the outing. Admission is $8 per adult and per child ages 2 and up; children under 2 are free. Since space is limited, pre-registration is recommended and remains available until one hour before start time. Remember to dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes, as you'll be walking park trails rain or shine.
