Long Lake Park: Hike with a Naturalist
Guided nature walk at Long Lake Park with Blandford Nature Center educators — all ages welcome.
Join Blandford Nature Center's environmental educators for a guided nature walk perfect for families curious about the outdoors. This beginner-friendly hike teaches you how to identify plants and animals using field guides and mobile apps, so you'll leave with real skills to explore on your own. You'll discover what makes Long Lake Park special across the seasons, whether that's wildflowers, wildlife, or changing landscapes. The program works well for adults and children ages 12 and up, though younger children can attend with a registered adult supervisor present throughout.
Tickets are $5 per person for adults and children ages 2 and up; children under 2 are free. We recommend registering online ahead of time since space fills up quickly—registration closes one hour before the program starts, though walk-ins are welcome if spots remain. Plan to arrive a few minutes early, as the hike begins promptly at the Enclosed Shelter. Dress for outdoor conditions with sturdy shoes and weather-appropriate clothing, since programs happen rain or shine and include walking unpaved paths. If anyone in your group has mobility concerns, let organizers know when registering so they can adjust the route.
