Michigan Adventure Race: Winter Edition
Michigan Adventure Race: Winter Edition at Camp Roger, Rockford
This is the 16th year of the largest winter adventure race in the country, and it's a chance for families to explore the outdoors together in a fun, competitive format. Teams work through a series of checkpoints scattered across the landscape, solving Amazing Race–style challenges along the way. You can run the full course or take a hiking approach—both are equally welcome. The entire experience typically takes up to three hours, and while attempting every checkpoint means covering 4–5 miles, you're free to skip any that don't appeal to you.
You don't need to be an athlete to participate. Many teams choose to hike rather than sprint, and compass skills are helpful but not required (free instruction is available). Snowshoes are provided for participants. With a 500-racer cap, this event tends to fill up quickly. Merchandise will be available for purchase on-site. If you'd like to preview the experience, video and photos from previous years are available online.
