Mothing Event – Searching for Biodiversity at Townsend Park
Evening volunteer event for families to search for moths and learn about biodiversity at Townsend Park.
A mothing event is a hands-on nature exploration where families use lights to attract moths and other nocturnal insects, then observe and identify them up close. It's a wonderful way to discover the incredible biodiversity living right in your own community. Expect to spend an evening outdoors with naturalists or educators who'll help you spot species you've probably never noticed before, learn about their behaviors, and understand why these creatures matter to our ecosystem. Perfect for curious kids who love bugs, science, and a little outdoor adventure after dark.
