Tails & Tales - Read to Therapy Dogs (Ottawa Hills Branch)
Kids read aloud to calm therapy dogs in this confidence-building library program held twice monthly.
Does your child enjoy animals and want to build reading confidence in a low-pressure setting? At this program, kids ages 6–13 get to read aloud to friendly, licensed therapy dogs from West Michigan Therapy Dogs Ruff Readers. Each child has the chance to spend 10–15 minutes reading one-on-one with a dog, making it a rewarding experience for young readers who might feel more at ease with a four-legged listener.
Since reading spots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis, your child will enjoy a small craft or activity while waiting their turn. It's a great way to practice reading skills in a fun, supportive environment without the pressure of a traditional classroom setting. The program runs for one hour, giving plenty of time for everyone to participate.
