Tails & Tales - Read to Therapy Dogs (Ottawa Hills Branch)

Kids read aloud to calm therapy dogs in this confidence-building library program held twice monthly.

Does your child enjoy animals and want to build reading confidence in a low-pressure setting? At this program, kids ages 6โ€“13 get to read aloud to friendly, licensed therapy dogs from West Michigan Therapy Dogs Ruff Readers. Each child has the chance to spend 10โ€“15 minutes reading one-on-one with a dog, making it a rewarding experience for young readers who might feel more at ease with a four-legged listener. Since reading spots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis, your child will enjoy a small craft or activity while waiting their turn. It's a great way to practice reading skills in a fun, supportive environment without the pressure of a traditional classroom setting. The program runs for one hour, giving plenty of time for everyone to participate.
