Townsend Park: Discovering Owls

Townsend Park: Discovering Owls

Learn all about owls with Blandford Nature Center educators at Townsend Park.

Join Blandford Nature Center educators for an engaging afternoon learning about these fascinating nocturnal hunters. This hands-on program invites families to discover what makes owls unique through activities like dissecting sanitized owl pellets and exploring the park trails to search for signs of owl activity. You'll also learn about the different owl species that call Michigan home. The program is designed with children ages 5–12 in mind, though younger and older kids are welcome with registration. Admission is $5 for adults and $8 for children ages 2 and up; children under 2 are free. This is not a drop-off program—a registered adult must stay with children throughout. Since activities take place outdoors and include trail walking, dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes. Pre-registration is strongly recommended due to limited space, and online sign-ups close one hour before the program starts. Walk-ins are accepted only if spots remain available. Arrive a few minutes early, as the group departs promptly at start time.
