Unseen Oceans

Unseen Oceans takes visitors on a deep-dive exploration of Earth's ocean worlds—from the bright surface waters down to the darkest depths. This exhibition from the American Museum of Natural History showcases how modern technology like robotics, underwater vehicles, and satellite monitoring are helping scientists discover and study the more than 70 percent of our planet covered by oceans. It's a hands-on experience that reveals just how much we're still learning about these vast realms. Inside the exhibit, families will find an immersive submersible theatre for a virtual dive experience, life-sized whale and giant squid animations on a massive high-resolution screen, and oversized models of unusual ocean creatures. You'll also see real fossils, glowing biofluorescent fish and turtle models, interactive activity stations, and even a partial Triton submersible replica that makes for great photos. Whether your kids are fascinated by marine life or curious about ocean science and exploration, there's plenty to engage with and discover.
