Wabasis Lake Park: Build a boat, will it float?

STEM hands-on workshop: design and test your own boat.

Kids love hands-on discovery, and this program at Wabasis Lake Park delivers exactly that. You and your child will work together to construct a mini boat from provided materials, then test your creation in the water to see if it floats. Along the way, you'll explore the science of buoyancy through direct observation. After building, participating boats compete in friendly races to see which ones are fastest and go the farthest. This activity works best for children ages 5โ€“12, though younger and older kids can attend with registration. Because this isn't a drop-off program, you'll stay alongside your child throughout. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged since spots fill up; online sign-ups close one hour before the program starts, though walk-ins are welcome if space remains. Pricing is $5 per adult and $8 per child ages 2 and up; children under 2 are free. Since the program takes place outdoors and includes walking park trails, dress your family for the weather with sturdy shoes and layers. Please arrive a few minutes early, as programs begin right on schedule.
