Wild Food Foraging with I.Y.E Wellness
Learn to identify and forage wild edible plants with expert instructors.
Instructors Katie and Luke Venechuk will guide you through a hands-on introduction to wild edible plants, trees, and mushrooms found in nature. You'll learn identification skills, safe and ethical foraging practices, and preparation techniques. Katie will also introduce "wild tending"—an approach to foraging rooted in respect for the land, its history, and the wildlife that depends on it. No prior outdoor experience is needed; this class welcomes curious learners of all skill levels.
During the walk, the instructors will demonstrate harvesting techniques, but all plant and mushroom collection will be done by them for teaching purposes only. Most plants will remain untouched to support local wildlife. Families are welcome—children ages 3 and up can attend with a registered adult. Pricing ranges from $7 for young children to $32 for non-member teens and adults (with a discounted rate available). Pre-registration is required and closes at noon the day before the program. The class takes place outdoors and will be cancelled in severe weather, with participants notified of refund or reschedule options.
