YouTube and You: Your Path to Science Stardom! | Grades 7-9

Learn science communication and content creation for grades 7–9.

Is your middle schooler curious about how viral content actually gets made? This four-day camp invites students entering grades 7-9 to become science creators. Campers will design their own projects, film and edit original videos, and learn what makes science content engaging and shareable. Whether they're brainstorming ideas, operating a camera, or polishing their final edits, participants blend hands-on experimentation with creative storytelling—discovering how science and imagination work together to capture an audience's attention. The Van Andel Institute for Education runs this in-person camp with a focus on curiosity and critical thinking. Each day builds on the last as students move from planning and filming through to publishing their creations. The camp welcomes young people who want to explore the intersection of STEM and video production in a supportive, creative environment. Full refunds are available if you cancel more than a week in advance; partial refunds of 50% apply for cancellations within seven days.
